Ice World

Giant limbs crashed down in the woods around the back pasture. The weight of the ice too much. 

The whole world stopped for the day. Frozen. 

The shed

29 degrees. dark. and I'm pedaling a bike in the shed. The dog thinks I'm crazy and he's probably right. Inside is a warm stove I relit not 30 minutes ago. 

Instead I cuss at myself to pedal harder.  just a few more minutes. 

Finish the interval. 

Group rides

Are good motivation. Otherwise I might have spent the day on the couch.

Easing the pain after. 

I missed the split at the critical moment and rolled in with the second group a few minutes down. 

Then we ate chili. 

I feel lucky to have such a great community of riders and 50 degree days in February.

A quiet day

Yesterday, a long ride with a friend. A friend who has been training much harder than I. 

85 miles on his wheel and I was the one suffering. 

Today, hanging around the house. Went for a walk to the creek behind the house
